Mielno is a small seaside town in north-western Poland, located 12 kilometers from Koszalin. The town is on two sides surrounded by water - on one side by the Baltic Sea and on the other - by the Jamno Lake. This extremely attractive location makes it the perfect place for water sports and active tourism. Reaching Mielno is quite easy as there are multiple means of transport running through Koszalin: buses, local operators’ minibuses and trains. There is also a bicycle path from Koszalin to Mielno.

Another interesting event in Mielno is the annual meeting of international cold-water enthusiasts, called “Międzynarodowy Zlot Morsów”. The lovers of freezing cold water swimming, who are called “walruses”, have been gathering here in winter time for 15 years. This year’s edition attracted nearly 3500 participants who for three days could swim in the sea water of the temperature of 2° C and enjoy other attractions. To highlight the importance of this event for the development of the town, there is a statue of a walrus by the main beach entrance from Kościuszki street. Even in the summer, this likeable animal reminds the passers-by of the freezing cold water swimmers.

If you are visiting Mielno, you must also take a short seaside walk to the nearby Gąski. There is the second largest lighthouse in Poland. This majestic building 50.2 meters high still guides ships, and when the weather is good, its light can be seen from a distance of 43 kilometers. The lighthouse and utility buildings are open to public. The surrounding of the building is also interesting. In the immediate neighborhood of the lighthouse, green clay is found, the curative properties of which are well known around the world. This organic material is known for its anti-wrinkle action and is used in treating skin conditions and diseases of the digestive system. Numerous tourists decide to take some clay with them to use it at home.
